Have you always written, or was there a catalyst that prompted you to begin this journey?

I had a dark poem published when I was 15 in my school's literary magazine. I gave up writing after my creative writing class ended. I picked it up again after falling in love with the NoSleep subreddit. If I could write just one thing that affected someone, it would be a success to me. I had just given birth to my third son about five months prior, and needed something that was just for me.

What is your favourite genre to read?

Horror and non fiction. If the two are combined, that's even better.

Do you remember the first piece of writing shared publicly? What were people’s reactions, but more importantly how did you react getting it out there?

I was nervous. I didn't know if my idea would be any good. Then once I posted it, it took off. "Never Stop at Roadside Memorials"; was my first story written as an adult and posted to Reddit. When Mr. Creeps asked to narrate it, I literally felt like a superstar.

What is your workspace like? What kind of atmosphere do you need to write?

I honestly try to work anywhere that I can whether it be from my phone in a waiting room or parking lot etc. Ideally I love sitting in the dark on my bed with my laptop in a freezing cold, silent room.

Without giving too much away, tell us about the short story you have featured in “It calls to the Forest”. What inspired you?

My son inspired me 100%. I'd even go as far as to say he helped me write it. The idea came to me when he was staying the night at his friends house who lived deep in the woods.
